taking a cue from dawn, i'm going to meet my friend aidan and spend my summer hours 1/2 day checking out the earthfromabove exhibit at the new millenium park.
another great night with the chicago bloggers last night at the hopleaf! glad to see our group is steadily growing - can't wait for the potluck. we'll get more info out soon.
watching the first few episodes of six feet under is such a treat! we didn't have HBO the first time around. while they re-ran the first season a few months ago, it was on wednesday nights and we could never keep it straight. we ended up missing those firstfewimportantepisodes. this time, sundays nights are back and i couldn't be happier - what a great show! seeing the humble beginnings of this program is quite a thrill, as so much has tied together throughout it's two short seasons.
basically, i can't wait for season three! although it will be quite a long wait.....
it's nice to read refreshing articles that give women hope - like this from the first choice: "There is a reality disconnect between what we see in magazines and on TV -- the perfect skin stretched tautly over fat-free bones and what actual living human females look like." nicely said. and, check out that kelly osbourne article, she's one helluva kid!
also, on the plan for this weekend - check out the rolling thunder tour in chicago. however, i'm a bit disappointed that michael moore seems to have dropped off the schedule - that's fairly shitty, as he was one of the main reasons i'd like to attend.
started off the weekend with a short tour of members' night at the field museum. then, saw a friends' band play up at north beach. this was pretty interesting, as it is not the typical establishment i frequent. a little bit too close to the god-awful club zone near weed st. but, i'll be back next week to ridicule the patrons some more.
i had some friends in town on saturday for the neocon trade fair, so we met up downtown and went for some nice italian at bice. i had a really interesting pasta dish, and we were given a free round of drinks due to the slow service. there was a private party upstairs, so the regular diners were sitting for awhile, but the staff took care of us, and slightly lagged at the end wrapping up the bill. i hightailed it outside for some fresh air and a smoke - such a nice evening!
firmly planted in the category "too good to be true" - check out this frightening piece of production from none other than david hasselhoff! it did bring tears to my eyes.......
